Sex is great, sex is gross, sex is… sexy
‘Paradise Circus Love’ surpasses that.
Directed by Hendrik Aerts, a new generation of performers embodies the reality of sex work: a
portrayal of the hidden nature of human desire. Raw and delicate.
In ‘Paradise Circus Love’ five characters share their relationship to sex work. One imagines himself as “Gay-sus Christ, saviour of sinners”, while another has trouble discerning their
private life from their professional endeavours.
‘The worlds oldest profession’ still remains hidden beneath layers of taboo and confusion.
Sex work is much more than ‘whoring’: it calls to deeply-rooted desires and intimate needs that would otherwise never see the light of day. Sensations that lie at the very core of everything we do.
Vulnerable. Raw. And terrifying.
With dance, music and text, ‘Paradise Circus Love’ takes you through a variety of shapes of intimacy. What’s in between self-expression and ‘just doing your job’?
Created by an interdisciplinary team of artists. Featuring, among others, a new text by Nic
Bruckman, scenography and lighting design by André Pronk, costumes by Jacqueline Steijlen, choreography by Manuel Kiros Paolini, and musical direction by Jonathan Bonny.
